Smoothies For The Healthy Win

Maintaining a healthy diet and receiving all the nutrients needed in your day is often difficult. As people, we are often busy with task that “just came up.” From birth, we are conditioned to eat three square meals per day. Still, we cannot seem to get the proper portions of fruits and vegetables needed to maintain healthy eating habits. Most of our lives are always on the go. Amazingly, we have found an affection for a nutrient filled beverage, that allows us to receive both fruits and vegetables in one glass. Smoothies.

A healthline.com article describes smoothies as, “A thick, creamy beverage usually blended from pureed fruits, vegetables, juices, yogurt, nuts, seeds, and/or dairy or non-dairy milk.” Served cold, they are known for their delicious taste and vibrant color. Inside you can find fruits ranging from strawberries and pineapples, to kiwis and bananas. Common vegetables include spinach, kale, and avocado. For protein, some add peanut butter, or a delicious almond butter. Finish it off with a Greek or plain yogurt, add ice, and blend away.

There are many health benefits to smoothies. Because of the nutrients we intake in a smoothie, it helps with the digestive system and some have seen benefits with a reduction in inflammation. The fruits and vegetables used also serves their purpose in the portions we need to consume each day to maintain a healthy diet. Smoothies are also a way increase your fiber intake, which also helps with digestion.

As we enter into phases of our life where we are on the go and fast food is not an option, consider a smoothie. Fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables can be purchased at your local grocery. A great blender can be purchased for less than $100. Your road to good health and wellness can be well on its way to a successful future.
