Wealth With Dell

Chasing your dreams can sometimes be a never ending cycle that leads you back to the place where it all begins. For Cardell Beasley, that place is the drive and determination, often known as the “hustlers” mentality, he embraced on the streets of Detroit, Michigan. In an interview I recently conducted with my friend for over twenty years, I learned more about the “why” than I ever knew. Sometimes those closest to you can be your biggest motivation to succeed at life and give back to the World.

Inspired by a Facebook post from 2019, I listened to a teary eyed Cardell discuss the importance of being thankful for what you have and appreciative for the opportunity to have it. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Cardell was a first generation college student. He was four years old when his father died and his mother was there to raise three young men alone. A musician was birthed in Cardell during his high school years. His band director and mentor, Al Whitfield became a driving force in propelling him to wanting to advance his scholastic abilities and attend college. Initially rejected because of low test scores and his grade point average, former Hampton University Director of Bands, Barney E. Smart, called Cardell and told him everything would work out. That summer of 1999, Cardell would enter his freshman year at Hampton University. There would be the start of the foundation of molding him into who he has become.

“Stop trading time for dollars,” Cardell said continually throughout our discussion. As an Investor, he has discovered the importance of being a well-rounded entrepeneur. With financial freedom being his motivator, Cardell began his journey as a Real Estate Agent in his early thirties. During this process, he has seen some great accomplishments and endured some opportunities, which he refers to as “lessons.” From trusting partners in the business and losing close to $60,000, Cardell has bounced back to currently having properties amassing close to 60 units.

Inspired by Robert Kiyosaki, author of Rich Dad Poor Dad, Cardell believes in generational changes in the lives of people. He has been captivated by his Ethiopian associate that has encouraged him through his attitude of providing for his children seamlessly. Cardell credits his success to changing his mindset. His mission is to eradicate generational poverty. As a faithful participant of Sunday Suppers in Washington, D.C., Cardell feeds the homeless and has used the opportunity to provide not only food, but socks and underwear for them as well. With his gourmet popcorn company, Dell-icious Popcorn, he has been able to provide financial assistance to feed the homeless in both Columbia and the Dominican Republic with a slogan, “A bag for you is a blessing for them.”
